ELSA Day was founded in 2013, with the aim of unifying the network to focus on a specific topic related to Human Rights. This means that on the 27th of November, all across Europe, the ELSA Network will be celebrating the vision, of having “a just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity.”
For the 8th edition of ELSA Day, ELSA shall be focusing on freedom of expression online. Through the dissemination of the internet, the opportunity for people across the globe to express themselves has grown rapidly. However, so have the challenges to the freedom of expression in form of inter alia state censorship of online contents and private take down procedures. Therefore, the protection of freedom of expression online deserves special attention.
